On Saturday, 25 February, the Gender Sensitization Cell of International School of Management Patna conducted an expert talk on “Gender Sensitivity Towards Humanity.” The resource person of this talk was an eminent social activist, Mr. Binod Bihari Singh, Senior State Consultant, Adolescent Empowerment, C4D at UNICEF, BIHAR. The target group of this interactive session was more than 700 first year adolescent students of the institute.
This session was conducted into two parts. The first part covered the basic semantics of the concept gender sensitization, its scope and its dire need to save sustainability of the humanity on this beautiful planet the ‘Earth’. While the second part highlighted the legal measures to uphold human rights of both the three genders. Especially it talked about Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of gender related issues across the world.
The talk was started with the screening of inspiring and powerful videos on gender sensitization. Concerns about Transgender and LGBTQ+ communities’ societal isolation and alienation were also discussed. The legal perspectives of Equal Remuneration Act 1976, Hindu Succession Act (2005), Maternity Benefits Bill, 2018, sexual harassment of women at workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, Redressal) Act 2013 and their technicalities were lucidly simplified to the participants.
Under the sagacious guidance of Director of the institute, Prof. (Dr) R. K. Singh, this informative talk was convened by Chairperson of the Gender Sensitization Cell, Software and Data Analyst, Ms. Jaya Kumari. Earlier the resource person was warmly welcomed and felicitated by other members of the cell, Assistant Professors, Mr Rahul Kumar Sinha and Ms Bhavna Kumari. In the introductory session, deliberating the objective of the talk, the convenor said, “Our institute is very sensitive and inquisitive to groom the personality of it’s students at 360 degree to face any mental, physical and social challenges in future. Actually, this talk is intended to generate awareness in the adolescent students with regard to socio-cultural aspects of gender, equality in law, social system, democratic activities and protection po Human Rights for sustainable development of human being.” This insightful talk was ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Ms Bhavna Kumari.
