ISM, Patna, April 19, 2025 — In its pursuit of academic excellence and commitment to continuous professional development, the International School of Management (ISM), Patna, organised a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Enhancing Statistical Computing Skills using R-4.5” on Saturday, 19 April. The insightful session was designed to empower faculty members with advanced tools and techniques for statistical computing and data analysis using the latest version of R, a widely acclaimed programming language in the world of research and data science.
The session was steered by Ms. Akanksha Kumari, Senior Research Fellow from the Department of Statistics, Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), who served as the distinguished resource person for the workshop.
During the session, Ms. Kumari elaborated on the evolving landscape of data-driven research and the significance of R-4.5, the latest version of R released in April 2024, which brings enhanced performance, new features, and improved reliability. She highlighted R’s versatility, underlining its growing importance in diverse domains such as research, social sciences, finance, business management, and beyond — essentially anywhere data is central to problem-solving and decision-making. The workshop specifically emphasized:
Equipping faculty members with practical skills for managing large datasets efficiently.
Introducing new features of R-4.5 for more effective and reliable coding.
Enhancing data visualisation techniques for clear and compelling presentation of research findings.
Enabling the seamless integration of statistical computing skills into academic research and classroom instruction.
The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of all faculty members, who actively engaged in the hands-on learning experience. The workshop was convened and flawlessly coordinated by Ms. Neeru Kumari, Coordinator of ISM Patna’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), ensuring smooth conduct and meaningful interaction throughout the session.
As a mark of appreciation, the resource person was felicitated by Dr. D. N. Singh, Principal, ISM Patna, along with Mr. Sudhir Kumar Sinha, Head of the Department of Commerce.
