“Remembering a Vision, Shaping a Voice: ISM Patna’s Memorial Talk Inspires Youth to Lead Gender Sensitisation”

ISM, Patna, August 13, 2025: On the solemn occasion of the death anniversary of Late Tarkeshwar Singh, the revered mentor and guiding light of the International School of Management, Patna, the campus resonated with reflection and resolve as the Gender Sensitization Committee, in collaboration with the Cultural Committee, organised a Memorial Talk titled “Sensitising Gender: Youth Concern.”

The programme was graced by eminent dignitaries, Shri Samrendra Singh, Chairman and younger brother of Late Tarkeshwar Singh; Shri Deval Singh, Vice-Chairman; and Shri Amal Singh, Secretary of ISM Patna, who stood as living symbols of the institution’s enduring values and legacy.

The distinguished speaker for the session, Prof. (Dr.) Shefali Roy, Director, Institute of Public Administration, Patna University, delivered an engaging and thought-provoking discourse. Dr. Roy explored the nuanced intersections of gender sensitivity and youth responsibility, reminding students that “change begins with individual awareness, but it takes collective courage to reshape social norms.” She emphasised that the youth, as inheritors of tomorrow, must question stereotypes, advocate fairness, and embrace inclusivity in thought and action.

Coordinated and moderated by Dr. Sweta Rani, Academic Head of ISM Patna, the talk evolved into a vibrant exchange of ideas. In her opening remarks, Dr. Rani observed, “Late Tarkeshwar Singh believed education should awaken both intellect and conscience. Today’s discussion is a tribute to his vision, that real learning empowers us to dismantle prejudices and champion equality.”

Ms. Neeru Kumari, Coordinator of the Gender Sensitising Cell, expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic participation of all undergraduate students, noting that the event was not only a remembrance but also a reaffirmation of the institution’s commitment to progressive social change.

The Memorial Talk concluded with a shared sentiment — that honouring the memory of a great mentor lies not merely in remembering his words, but in living his ideals. For ISM Patna’s students, the afternoon was both a homage to the past and a clarion call to action for the future.
