Deptt. of IT, ISM, Patna organized a health awareness programme on the topic “Smoking is injurious to health”. The invited speaker was Dr. Sneha Jha, Radiation Oncologist, Paras HMRI, Patna. Dr. Jha who is an eminent cancer specialist of city has versatile experience of more than ten (10) years. Dr. Priyadarshini, Asst. Prf., Deptt. of IT, ISM and moderator of the event welcomed the Guests. The programme started in-time (03:00 PM) in ISM Auditorium with traditional ‘Deep prajwalan’, (lighting the lamp) by Prof(Dr.) Prashanta Kumar Padhy, Director ISM; Dr. Sneha Jha, Radiation Oncologist & invited Speaker ; Rajeshwar Dayal, Head, Deptt. of IT; Ms. Raj Sinha, Asst. Prof. Deptt of IT; and Cultural committee Head Ms. Shilpi Kavita. In his inaugural speech Prof (Dr.) Prasanta kumar Padhy, talked about the relevance and importance of the World Health Day celebration and also advised the people to be health conscious especially during COVID pandemic. Dr. Sneha Jha, Radiation Oncologists-Paras HMRI Hospital, during delivery on topic, made the audience sensitized about several types of diseases caused by smoking cigarette and chewing tobacco. Emphatically said, Chewing of tobacco is more harmful than smoking. Requested all concerned to get rid from these, if they are habituated. She also highlighted various causes of cancer and possible treatments. She used a very illustrative & attractive power point presentation for delivery on theme. The program concluded with ‘vote of Thanks’ proposed by Mr. Rajeshwar Dayal, Head, Deptt. of IT, ISM, Patna. Owing Govt’s directed on-line classes, only teaching and non-teaching fraternity were present in the Auditorium. The event was live telecasted on facebook through which students attended virtually.
