ISM Patna, August 18, 2026: Reinforcing the message that a healthy and progressive nation begins with healthy and responsible citizens, the NSS Cell of the International School of Management (ISM), Patna, organised an awareness programme on “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” (Drug-Free India Campaign) on Tuesday, encouraging young students to stay away from substance abuse and become active ambassadors of a drug-free society.
Organised under the broader framework of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and Mission Spandan, the programme highlighted the campaign as “a strong step towards Viksit Bharat”, emphasising that the vision of a developed India can be realised only when its youth embrace healthy lifestyles, positive thinking and responsible social behaviour.
The awareness session was addressed by spiritual resource persons from the Brahma Kumaris, who interacted with undergraduate first-year students and sensitised them to the physical, psychological, familial and social consequences of addiction. Through their motivational and value-based interaction, the speakers encouraged students to develop inner strength, self-discipline, positive thinking and a sense of purpose as effective means of resisting harmful habits and substance dependence.
The session carried the powerful slogans “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life” and “Drug-Free Society, Healthy Society,” turning the campaign into a call for collective responsibility rather than merely an individual choice. The resource persons particularly underscored the role of young people in spreading awareness among their friends, families and communities.
A significant highlight of the programme was the Nasha Mukti Sankalp (Anti-Drug Pledge), in which students collectively pledged neither to consume intoxicating substances nor encourage their use. They also resolved to help keep their friends and family members away from addiction, adopt a healthy lifestyle and positive outlook, and carry the message of de-addiction to wider sections of society.
With their hands extended in pledge, the participating students reaffirmed the collective resolve: “We will neither indulge in substance abuse nor allow others to do so; we will keep our friends and families away from addiction; we will adopt a healthy lifestyle and positive thinking; and we will take the message of a drug-free life to every section of society.” The pledge culminated in the larger national message, “Nasha Mukt Bharat – Swasth Bharat” (Drug-Free India – Healthy India).
The interactive programme sought to move beyond conventional awareness about the harmful effects of addiction by encouraging students to view themselves as agents of social change. It stressed that combating substance abuse requires not only institutional initiatives but also sustained participation by young citizens, families and communities.
The programme was coordinated by Ms. Neeru Kumari, IQAC Coordinator and Admin, and Mr. Basuki Nath Upadhyay, NSS Programme Officer, ISM Patna, with the active involvement of NSS volunteers and students. Their coordinated efforts helped transform the awareness session into a meaningful exercise in social responsibility, preventive education and youth participation.
The initiative reaffirmed ISM Patna’s commitment to sensitising students to pressing social concerns and nurturing responsible citizenship, while carrying forward the national vision of a “Nasha Mukt Bharat, Swasth Bharat” as an essential foundation for a healthier and stronger Viksit Bharat.
