ISM Observes World Environment Day with a Green Pledge and Plantation Drive

ISM, Patna, June 5, 2025: In a vibrant celebration of World Environment Day, the International School of Management (ISM), Patna reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability through a meaningful plantation drive organised on campus. The initiative was led by the institution’s Academic Head, Dr. Sweta Rani, and saw active participation from Heads of Departments and faculty members across disciplines.

The event, organised under the banner of ISM’s eco-conscious student group Greenism, The ISM Eco Club, highlighted the importance of ecological responsibility in academic spaces. The plantation drive was coordinated by Ms. Neeru Kumari, Admin and Greenism Club Coordinator, who worked meticulously with faculty and students to bring the initiative to life.

Senior academic leaders including Mr. Rajeshwar Dayal, Head of the Department of Computer Applications; Mr. Sudhir Kumar Sinha, Head of the Department of Commerce; Ms. Pooja Dubey, Head of the Department of Management; and Dr. D. N. Singh, Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, took part in the planting of diverse flora across the green zones of the campus.

The saplings, generously donated by Tarumitra, a nationally recognised environmental movement based in Patna, included native and air-purifying species aimed at enhancing the campus ecosystem and spreading awareness about sustainable living.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sweta Rani emphasised the need for academic institutions to go beyond classroom teaching and instil environmental values in students. “Education must integrate concern for the environment. Today’s plantation is not just a symbolic act but a reminder of our collective duty to safeguard the future,” she stated.

The event was marked by enthusiasm, reflection, and a shared sense of responsibility as students and faculty pledged to nurture the planted saplings and extend the green legacy of ISM Patna.

As climate issues grow more urgent, ISM’s Greenism Club continues to play a pivotal role in advocating for eco-friendly practices, making environmental awareness an integral part of campus culture.
