ISM Patna Honours the Vision and Legacy of Late Tarkeshwar Singh on His 10th Death Anniversary

Patna, August 13, 2026: The International School of Management (ISM), Patna, on Thursday solemnly commemorated the 10th death anniversary of Late Tarkeshwar Singh, Retired Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Bihar & Jharkhand, its revered mentor and guiding light whose enduring vision, values, and ideals continue to inspire the institution and shape its journey. The commemorative programme unfolded in an atmosphere of solemn remembrance, profound gratitude, and reflection as members of the ISM family came together to pay heartfelt tribute to a visionary whose life and legacy remain deeply embedded in the ethos and aspirations of the institution.

The occasion was graced by the distinguished presence of the institution’s patrons, Shri Samrendra Singh, Chairman of ISM Patna and younger brother of Late Tarkeshwar Singh; Shri Deval Singh, Vice-Chairman; and Shri Amal Singh, Secretary. Their presence lent profound emotional significance to the gathering. As custodians of a cherished legacy, they stood as living symbols of the values, commitments and aspirations that Late Tarkeshwar Singh held close to his heart.

The atmosphere turned deeply reflective during a Memorial Talk delivered by Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Director, and Dr. Sweta Rani, Academic Head. Sharing the key takeaways of the commemorative programme, Ms. Neeru Kumari, IQAC Coordinator and Administrator, underlined the importance of carrying forward the ideals on which the institution has been nurtured. She observed that the most meaningful tribute to a visionary is not confined to remembrance alone, but lies in translating his values into everyday actions. She encouraged faculty members, staff and students to uphold the culture of dedication, discipline, compassion and institutional responsibility and thereby keep Late Tarkeshwar Singh's legacy alive for generations to come.

In her memorial address, Dr. Sweta Rani, Academic Head, eulogised Late Tarkeshwar Singh’s remarkable leadership qualities and enduring contribution to the institution. Drawing upon a poignant metaphor, she said that he had planted the sapling of ISM with a far-reaching vision, which, nurtured over the years by his ideals and values, has grown into a flourishing tree of knowledge and opportunity. She urged the students to imbibe the “3Ds”—Discipline, Dedication and Determination—as guiding principles of their lives and to pursue their goals with unwavering commitment. Emphasising the transformative power of education and achievement, she encouraged them to challenge stereotypes associated with the word “Bihari” and redefine it as a proud identity synonymous with talent, perseverance and accomplishment.

Reflecting on the life and legacy of Late Tarkeshwar Singh, Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Director, presented a brief life sketch of the visionary mentor and paid tribute to his extraordinary hard work, determination and commitment to Bihar’s educational development. He observed that ISM Patna stands as an embodiment of Late Tarkeshwar Singh’s cherished dream—a dream to create quality educational opportunities within Bihar and to nurture young minds into confident, competent and accomplished individuals. He emphasised that the institution’s mission of grooming the personality, skills, and professional capabilities of Bihar’s youth carries forward that vision by enabling students to build meaningful careers closer to home and, in the long run, helping reduce the need for migration from the state in search of quality education and opportunities.

One of the poignant highlights of the programme was the release of a special tribute video on YouTube, conceptualised and created by the students of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication in memory of Late Tarkeshwar Singh. Blending youthful creativity with heartfelt remembrance, the video sought to preserve his memories and introduce the younger generation of students to the life, ideals and legacy of the institution's guiding light. The initiative demonstrated how digital storytelling can become a meaningful bridge between memory and posterity.

The programme witnessed the presence of the Heads of various departments, including Mr. Rajeshwar Dayal, Head, Department of Computer Applications; Dr. Pooja Dubey, Head, Department of Management; Mr. Sudhir Kumar Sinha, Head, Department of Commerce; and Dr. Sunita, Head, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, along with teaching and non-teaching members and students of the ISM family.

The commemorative programme was coordinated by Ms. Swati Savarn, Coordinator, Cultural Committee, and Ms. Ragdah Javed, Member, Cultural Committee, whose efforts helped lend dignity and solemnity to the occasion.
