ISM Patna, July 30, 2026: The International School of Management (ISM), Patna, formally welcomed the newly admitted students of the BCA and MCA programmes through its orientation programme, 'Deeksharambh-2026', held with enthusiasm and academic fervour. The programme introduced the freshers to the institution's academic environment, professional culture, student support system, and opportunities for holistic development, marking the beginning of their academic journey at ISM.
The orientation programme was organised under the leadership of Vice Chairman Shri Deval Singh and the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Kumar, Director; Prof. (Dr.) Viveka Nand Sharma, Dean and Principal; and Prof. (Dr.) Sweta Rani, Academic Head. The inaugural session was attended by eminent academicians, industry leaders, administrators, heads of departments, faculty members, and students.
The inaugural session was graced by an august gathering of distinguished academicians, industry leaders, administrators, and faculty members. Among those present were the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) A. K. Nayak, former President of the Computer Society of India (CSI) and Pro-Chancellor, International University, Nagaland; the Guest of Honour, Mr. Naresh Nandan, Member Secretary, Bihar Industries Association Incubation Centre – Venture Park, and Member, Governing Council, AIIMS Incubation Centre, Patna; Ms. Neeru Kumari, Administrator and IQAC Coordinator; Prof. Rajeshwar Dayal, Head of the Department of Computer Applications; Dr. Pooja Dubey, Head of the Department of Management; Mr. Sudhir Kumar Sinha, Head of the Department of Commerce; Dr. Sunita, Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, along with faculty members of the Department of Computer Applications, administrative officials and student’s parents.
The Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) A. K. Nayak, delivered an inspiring address highlighting the timeless significance of the Indian Guru–Shishya tradition. He remarked that the true strength of any educational institution lies in its students and urged the newcomers to become lifelong learners in an era driven by rapid technological transformation. Referring to emerging domains such as Computer Science, Cybersecurity, the Internet of Things (IoT), Integrated Technology, Blue Technology, Industry 4.0, digital language translation, and mental communication software, he observed that the future would be shaped by automation and intelligent technologies. Encouraging students to continuously upgrade their knowledge and skills, he said, "Knowledge is the greatest power; what we need is the willingness and the ability to acquire it." He also inspired students to cultivate innovation, research aptitude, and technology-driven competence to meet future challenges with confidence.
Guest of Honour Mr. Naresh Nandan encouraged students to explore entrepreneurship, innovation, incubation, and start-up ecosystems. He urged them to develop problem-solving abilities and industry-oriented skills that would enable them to become job creators rather than job seekers.
Earlier, Prof. Rajeshwar Dayal, Head of the Department of Computer Applications, welcomed the dignitaries and introduced the students to the vision and legacy of ISM Patna. He explained the BCA and MCA curriculum, academic framework, teaching-learning practices, internship opportunities, value-added courses, industry exposure, and career prospects, while motivating students to make optimum use of the institution's modern laboratories, digital resources, and mentoring support.
The orientation programme also featured a series of informative sessions designed to acquaint the newly admitted students with the institute's academic framework, career opportunities, and vibrant co-curricular ecosystem. Mr. Ravi Singh introduced the activities and objectives of the SYNAPSE Club, highlighting its role in fostering technical innovation and collaborative learning, while Ms. Bhavna Kumari sensitised students to the objectives and functioning of the Anti-Ragging Cell, reinforcing the institute's commitment to a safe, inclusive, and student-friendly campus environment. Adding a career-oriented perspective, Mr. Bhavesh Kumar elaborated on the diverse career opportunities available to BCA graduates across the IT industry, software development, cybersecurity, data analytics, entrepreneurship, and emerging technology domains, inspiring students to pursue their academic journey with confidence and purpose.
Students also interacted with representatives from key administrative and support departments, including laboratory instructors, librarians, hostel wardens, the transport section, the sick room, and the National Cadet Corps (NCC), who briefed them about campus facilities, institutional services, rules, and student support mechanisms.
Addressing the gathering, Ms. Neeru Kumari explained the institution's Model Code of Conduct, academic regulations, attendance requirements, examination policies, discipline, and ethical standards. She encouraged students to uphold the values of responsibility, integrity, professionalism, and mutual respect throughout their academic journey. She also proposed the vote of thanks.
Adding an element of excitement to the orientation, the post-inaugural session featured a series of interactive ice-breaking activities, including a Treasure Hunt, Robo Race, and Tug of War, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from the freshers. The activities promoted teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and camaraderie while helping students connect with their peers in an informal and enjoyable environment. Winners of the competitions were felicitated by the Head of the Department with inspiring moral books as a gesture to encourage lifelong learning, ethical values, and excellence.
The programme concluded on a vibrant and optimistic note with enthusiastic participation from the newly admitted students.
