ISM Patna, August 22, 2026: The International School of Management (ISM), Patna, celebrated the colours, creativity and cultural spirit of the auspicious month of Shravan with “Shravani Mahotsav”, a vibrant series of student competitions organised by the Cultural Committee on Saturday. The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 50 students and blended traditional art, creative expression, performing talent and environmental consciousness on a common platform.
Organised under the academic guidance of Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Director; Dr. Sweta Rani, Academic Head; and Ms. Neeru Kumari, Admin, the Mahotsav featured Mehndi, Nail Art, Rakhi Making and Dance competitions, providing students with opportunities to showcase their artistic skills, imagination and cultural sensibilities.
The Mehndi Competition, judged by Ms. Bhavna Kumari, witnessed participants creating intricate and aesthetically appealing designs reflecting both traditional motifs and contemporary creativity. The Nail Art Competition, adjudicated by Dr. Sunita, brought out the participants’ flair for colour, detailing and innovative design.
A major highlight of the Mahotsav was the Rakhi Making Competition, judged by Dr. Pooja Dubey. Going beyond the conventional celebration of Raksha Bandhan, students crafted rakhis using organic and eco-friendly materials, giving the festival a meaningful environmental dimension. As a special extension of the initiative, volunteers from the GREENISM Club and NSS Cell of ISM Patna will visit Tarumitra and tie these eco-friendly rakhis to trees, symbolically expressing a pledge to protect and nurture nature. The initiative seeks to connect the traditional spirit of raksha—protection—with the contemporary responsibility of environmental conservation.
Adding energy and rhythm to the celebration, the Dance Competition provided a lively platform for students to display their performing talent. The performances were evaluated by a panel comprising Dr. D. N. Singh, Dr. Sunita and Ms. Bhavna Kumari. The enthusiastic performances and spirited participation added a festive dimension to the Mahotsav.
The winners and runners-up of the various competitions were felicitated with awards in recognition of their creativity, talent and performance, encouraging students to continue participating actively in cultural and co-curricular activities.
Addressing the students on the occasion, Academic Head Dr. Sweta Rani highlighted the importance of cultural and creative activities in holistic education. She observed that such programmes provide students with opportunities to discover and express talents beyond academics while developing confidence, creativity, teamwork and a deeper appreciation of India’s cultural traditions. Referring particularly to the eco-friendly Rakhi initiative, she emphasised that traditions acquire greater relevance when they are connected with contemporary social and environmental responsibilities. She encouraged students to become responsible custodians of both cultural heritage and nature, carrying the values of creativity, sustainability and social responsibility into their everyday lives.
The programme was coordinated by Ms. Swati Sawarn, Coordinator, Cultural Committee, and Dr. Shatakshi, Member, Cultural Committee, with the active support and coordination of faculty members. The collective efforts of the Cultural Committee, faculty members and participating students transformed Shravani Mahotsav into a colourful celebration of tradition, talent, creativity and environmental responsibility.
