ISM Patna, July 31, 2026: The International School of Management (ISM), Patna successfully concluded its two-day orientation programme, 'Deeksharambh-2026', welcoming the newly admitted students of BCA, MCA, BBA, BCP and BAJMC into the ISM family through an enriching blend of academic orientation, industry interaction, campus familiarisation, student engagement and cultural activities. Organised on July 30 and 31, the programme introduced freshers to the institution's academic ecosystem, professional culture and holistic learning environment while encouraging them to begin their higher education journey with confidence, discipline and purpose.
The orientation programme was organised under the leadership of Vice Chairman Shri Deval Singh and the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Kumar, Director; Prof. (Dr.) Viveka Nand Sharma, Dean and Principal; Prof. (Dr.) Sweta Rani, Academic Head; Ms. Neeru Kumari, Admin and IQAC Coordinator. The first day, under the coordination of Prof. Rajeshwar Dayal, Head of the Department of Computer Applications, welcomed the newly admitted BCA and MCA students, while the second day was dedicated to students of BBA, BCP and BAJMC, meticulously coordinated by Dr. Pooja Dubey, HoD (Management), Mr. Sudhir Sinha, HoD, (Commerce) and Dr. Sunita, HoD (Journalism and Mass Communication).
The inaugural sessions on both days witnessed the presence of eminent academicians, industry leaders, administrators, heads of departments, faculty members and parents. Distinguished guests included Prof. (Dr.) A. K. Nayak, former President of the Computer Society of India (CSI) and Pro-Chancellor, International University, Nagaland; Mr. Naresh Nandan, Member Secretary, Bihar Industries Association Incubation Centre–Venture Park and Member, Governing Council, AIIMS Incubation Centre, Patna; Prof. Vibhas Kumar, Professor of Practice, Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP); Mr. Anup Raj of Tata Play; Mr. Sanjay Choudhary, marketing professional; Dr. Subhash Krishna, Regional Programming Director, Radio City; CS Kundan Kumar; and Dr. A. K. Verma, Professor of Marketing, Christ University, Bengaluru.
Welcoming the students, Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Kumar, Director, urged the freshers to embrace innovation, creativity and disciplined learning while preparing themselves for a rapidly evolving professional world. He encouraged students to cultivate a global outlook, actively participate in experiential learning, internships and co-curricular activities, and uphold integrity and ethical values throughout their academic journey.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Sweta Rani, Academic Head, introduced students to ISM's learner-centric academic ecosystem, highlighting flip-mode classrooms, case-based teaching, experiential learning, industry interaction and continuous mentoring. She assured students of the institution's unwavering academic support and appealed to parents to become active partners in shaping responsible and competent professionals.
During the inaugural sessions, the distinguished speakers shared valuable insights drawn from academia, industry and professional life. Prof. (Dr.) A. K. Nayak emphasised the timeless significance of the Indian guru-shishya tradition and reminded students that they are the greatest strength of any educational institution. Speaking about emerging technological transformations, he highlighted the growing importance of computer science, cybersecurity, the Internet of Things (IoT), integrated technologies, blue technology and Industry 4.0, while encouraging students to embrace lifelong learning to remain relevant in an increasingly automated world.
Delivering the keynote address on the second day, Prof. Vibhas Kumar advised students to pursue excellence with clarity, credibility and integrity, stating that successful professionals are those who become dependable problem-solvers. He appreciated ISM's modern infrastructure and student-centric learning environment and encouraged students to develop habits that build character alongside competence.
Sharing corporate perspectives, Mr. Anup Raj encouraged students to move beyond rote learning by continuously asking "what, why and how," while developing communication skills, teamwork and a positive attitude. Mr. Sanjay Choudhary stressed the importance of personal branding, emotional intelligence and responsible use of social media. Dr. A. K. Verma highlighted the values of discipline, determination, devotion and dedication as the cornerstones of professional success, while CS Kundan Kumar motivated students to pursue knowledge with purpose and cultivate the habit of reading newspapers regularly. Dr. Subhash Krishna inspired students to strengthen their communication skills through consistent reading, writing and public speaking, describing these habits as lifelong investments in personal and professional growth.
Departmental orientation sessions introduced students to their academic curriculum, career opportunities and institutional support systems. Faculty members and coordinators familiarised the freshers with various clubs and cells, encouraging them to participate actively in leadership, cultural, technical and social initiatives that promote creativity, teamwork and personality development. Guided tours of the library, computer laboratories, media studio and hostel facilities further acquainted students with the campus infrastructure and learning resources.
The programme also featured lively cultural and recreational activities, including singing, dancing and poetry recitation, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm, friendship and belonging among the newcomers. The interactive sessions were coordinated by Manisha Raj, a BAJMC student of the 2025–28 batch and Miss Freshers, whose energetic anchoring encouraged active participation. Students demonstrating exceptional enthusiasm and talent during the orientation activities were presented with moral books as tokens of appreciation.
Delivering the concluding address and vote of thanks, Ms. Neeru Kumari, Administrator and IQAC Coordinator, familiarised students with the institution's code of conduct and urged them to uphold discipline, responsibility and ethical values throughout their academic life.
Concluding 'Deeksharambh-2026', ISM Patna reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing industry-ready professionals equipped with knowledge, leadership qualities, ethical values and a spirit of lifelong learning.
